Our mission is to grow a community of people around the ideas of building resilience and local reliance and to become a vibrant community space for networking, collaboration, cooperation, and learning.
The Vine Communities Coffee Shop concept centers around providing support to local ingredient providers through our network of local growers and homemade goods.
The Coffee Shop will primarily serve light snacks and drinks to the center visitors, such as our students and parents; however, it will also be open to the public, who will have the opportunity to witness the learning process taking place at the center.
One of the hallmarks of healthy and resilient communities is learning and knowledge transfer. We believe that self-instigated learning is a key aspect to ignite passion towards the subject matters that will be discussed during the learning process. Vine Communities Library will provide reliable resources and books that will fulfill the need for self-driven learning.
Community members will be able to donate books relevant to the topics discussed at the center.
Finally, The Classroom is where most of the theoretical learning takes place. The classroom will primarily host theory and practical workshops focused on soft skills training, scientific and theory-based courses in gardening, permaculture, and financial acumen training for both adults and children.
The classroom space will have a cozy relaxed feel that will allow our children to feel that they are away from the school environment to ensure receptivity of knowledge.
We believe in local reliance and building communal resilience to lessen our dependence on a fragile supply chain system. The Vine Communities Network is a directory of local businesses and licensed individuals that will receive the opportunity to place their food and retail items at the center, to enhance our local collaboration and reliance. The retail space concept ensures that customers bring their own jars or containers to fill, further enhancing the concept of sustainable zero-waste retail.
The Garden Room is where most gardening classes take place; it is designed to provide an indoor space for indoor gardening activities. It is fitted with an indoor garden bed that hosts indoor editable and ornamental plants for demonstration purposes.
In collaboration with Um Al Emarat Park and some local farms in Abu Dhabi, Vine Communities runs a schedule of gardening classes during the growing season such as Introduction to Organic Gardening Class, Know Your Pests, and Introduction to Composting program, to ensure optimal understanding of the subject matter and allow a space for experimenting and trial and error.
The Learning Kitchen is the space where most of the cooking, canning, food preservation classes will take place.
The space is designed to include a homestyle fitted kitchen for students to have the opportunity for hands on training and learn the essential life skills taught at center.
We believe that learning is social, experiential, and contextual. Our programs cater to all of these elements to ensure effective knowledge transfer. The Workshop area runs hands-on classes such as sewing, sustainable crafts, and recycling projects. It will also be the space for students to experiment and explore different passions during their Lab Hours.
The Idea Lab is a space designed for community idea sharing and collaboration. In there, we run several programs such as innovation and problem-solving sessions. We also run facilitated idea-generation sessions to help create a space where the community is focused on generating solutions that benefit themselves and their environment.
